Obituary of CERVO – Francesco Frank

April 2, 1933 – July 29, 2010 Francesco Cervo passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at the age of 77 years, surrounded by his loving family. Francesco was born in Mongrassano, Cosenza, Italy on April 2, 1933, and immigrated to Canada in October of 1961. He and Franca were married on April 28, 1962, began their family together in the Victoria Park area, next to the Calgary Stampede. In 1972, they brought their three children to Dalhart Road NW, where they lived for the next thirty-six years. Frank was known for his strong work ethic, love of wine making and gardening, and his tremendous love of his grandchildren and his unique gift of story telling. His legacy will live on through his family and cherished memories. Devozione a San Francesco di Paola. Frank is survived by his wife of forty-eight years Franca; sons, Paolo (Wendy) and Pietro (Tracy); daughter Carmelina (Paul Dery); and grandchildren, Katherine, Rachele, Marcus, Lucas, Tyne, and Taylor. Frank is also survived by his mother Carmelita; brother Giovanni (Maria); sister Aurora (Gianino Spoletini); and mother-in-law Pasqualina Montanaro; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. Frank was predeceased by his younger sister Maddalena; brother-in-law Giorgio Melicchio; his father Paolino Cervo; and father-in-law Mariano Montanaro. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (1566 Northmount Drive N.W.) on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum.
