Obituary of BROWNE – Earl

May 30, 1925 – March 31, 2010 Earl Browne of Okotoks, went home to be with his Lord on March 31, 2010 at the age of 84. He will be dearly missed by his wife Dorys of fifty-seven years; also his loving family, Edward, Linda, Debra, Wendy, Lori, Conrad and their spouses, plus thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His grandson, Aaron, predeceased him in 2003 due to a mountain climbing accident. Earl felt honored to serve his country in the navy during WWII. He saw action in the North Atlantic and South Pacific. Later he joined the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps and served in Korea and on peace keeping duties in Germany. After his discharge he was employed with the St. John Ambulance and then the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation. Hockey was a great part of Earl’s life, being a trainer for army leagues and community teams in Kingston, ON and Calgary. He was the first trainer for Calgary Canucks Jr “A”, trainer for Okotoks Bisons Jr “B” and an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Okotoks Oilers Jr “A”. He also made time to volunteer for Boy Scouts, Big Brothers, Between Friends, on the Palliative Care Team at the Rockyview Hospital, flu clinics and church boards. Plus he looked forward to church camps every summer. His life has touched many and he felt so blessed by all the lives that crossed his path. A memorial service will be held April 10th at 1:00 p.m. at Okotoks Evangelical Free Church (28 Westland Road, Okotoks). Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
