Obituary of POTORTI – Antonio Pasquale

October 20, 1943 – March 30, 2010 Tony Potorti, beloved husband of Carmela, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at the age of 66. He was born in Casignana, Reggio Calabria, Italy on October 20, 1943 and then immigrated to Canada in 1965 and went to work in Kimberley, BC. Tony was married in Calgary to Carmela Priolo in 1968 and later decided to move to Cranbrook to raise their family in a smaller city setting. Five years ago, Tony and Carmela returned to Calgary to join their children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Carmela; his son Carlo (Cheryl) and daughters, Rita Astorino (Vittorio), Marisa Newton (Aaron) and Leona Wodynski (Shaun); his seven precious grandchildren, Luca, Sofia, Lidia, Milania, Abi, Delano, and Joseph; his siblings, Pina Romeo (Antonio), Antonietta Ferraro (Benito), John Potorti (Tonya Ferraro), and Rocco Potorti (Denise); his brothers-in-law, Frank Priolo (Annette Logan) and Attilio Chiarastella (Maria DaSilva); his sister-in-law Angela Priolo; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Tony was predeceased by his parents Maria and Vincenzo. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Tony was an avid outdoorsman, and hunting and fishing were such an integral part of his life.
