Obituary of KOHUT – Maria

Maria Kohut, beloved mother and grandmother passed away on Monday, March 29, 2010 at the age of 91 years. Maria’s memory will be forever cherished by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Gordon Kenmuir of Calgary, and a most loved grandson Christopher Kenmuir of Calgary. Maria also leaves behind her dearest sister Bronia Czyzewska and numerous nieces and nephews in Preston, England, as well as her nieces Irene Kaye and Christine Wallz and their families in Calgary. Maria was predeceased by her husband Franciszek, grandson Robert Michael Kenmuir and brothers Antoni, Josef, Janek and Kostek. Maria was born in Wolka Karwicka, Poland, she served with the Polish Army during WW II, and after liberation from years of captivity in Siberia, Russia, she continued her military service with the Polish Army connected to the British forces in the Middle East. Her journeys took her to Iran, Iraq, Egypt (where she met her future husband Franciszek Kohut) and finally to London, England. In 1952, Maria was proud to call Canada her home. Maria will always be remembered for her love of God, her family and her many friends. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Prayers at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, April 5, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. With visitation prior to prayers starting at 6:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Queen of Peace Polish Catholic Church (2111 Uxbridge Drive N.W.) on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at St. Joseph’s Section of Queen’s Park Cemetery.
