Condolences
I send my condolences to your family as my father, William, worked for the Bill Tynan Furniture company in Calgary for many years. I worked as a helper while on summer holidays and after the fire. Good people are hard to find and many were working for the Tynan family. My father has also passed so I know your sorrows.
Our thoughts are with you during your time of grief, and may all the great memories of your life together keep you strong.

Our deepest condolences to you on the passing of your father. He sounded like a person we would have liked to know
Our family wishes to register our most sincere condolences to the Tynan family on the passing of Bill.
This memo is from our whole family who have known and loved and valued our friendship with the Tynan family for years. It may however highlight some of my first hand personal experiences.
Dorothy and I knew the Tynans chiefly through the Rotary Club and associated volunteer and
social events. Although all of these were generally significant club efforts, it was some of the
lessor or smaller club support activities that personally come to mind.
One of these in particular – our Rotary Club was in charge of (hosting) a convention of Canada wide CAs, who were meeting in Banff, with the final party or Ball to be held in Calgary. The typical Calgary spirit took over, the preparations – for the extravaganza included; The CPR backed a special train to Banff, so that it would be traveling forward when .. bringing our guests down. I chaired arranging the venue, and those preparations .. which of course involved many of my friends, included Bill Tynan and Don Cushing. Another Rotary group felt the train should be ‘attacked’ by Indians as it passed through the Morley Reserve – an event that became a spectacular success. A group of our club’s Rotary Anns undertook to have a group portraying ‘Ladies of the Night’ board the train, who in their colorful costumes provided another bit of the flavor of the ’Old West’. Bill – or both he and Don C (our original Club Hutterite performers, were both on my committee) and suggested we meet the train in Cochrane, as farmers selling produce. They produced costumes for five of us, I was also privileged to be one of this group. Our group, portraying a Hutterite family arrived at the Cochrane station long in advance (the train had no published schedule), we had sacks of vegetables, mostly turnips (which became bowling balls) and several geese. We also had some refreshments to help us pass the time away. We shared some of our ‘refreshments’ with our geese, who we found have a very small tolerance for beer; this became quite evident on the trip to Calgary, adding more to the Western atmosphere.
This is but one example of the outstanding sense of humor Bill was known for – and contributed to .. and in this event an outstanding .. and memorable, but lightly chronicled success.
What a guy.
Goodbye Bill .. you’ll be missed .. from Dorothy, Gayle, Judy and Giles Wilderman
Dear Mary and Family,
Both Adolf and Maria always spoke very highly of Bill! Though I did not know Bill personally he certainly made a difference in our family’s lives as well as the City of Calgary. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

To the Tynan Family
My thoughts & prayers are with you. It was a pleasure to have known Bill as well as Mary. I have such fond memories of their parties down here in the desert. Desert Island just hasn’t been the same without them. Plus, what a great picture of Bill. It captured his fun loving spirit! It was such a treat to see him looking so well at Reg’s funeral.
Again my sympathies,
Pattie Cameron
Moe – I am so sorry your father has passed on. He was obviously a big force in this city and in your life. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Dear Tynan Family
I just returned to Calgary last night and was saddened to learn of Bill’s passing. Russ – I remember when we joined Rotary in 1977 (youngsters) and how gracious your father was to me. He will be missed.
My dad Earle asked me to pass on his condolences to the entire Tynan Family on the loss of Bill. He indicated that he spent a lot of great times with his co-dance Partner (Fat Boys) at Rotary and has a lot of fond memories of Bill here in Calgary and Palm Springs. Dad will not be able to attend the service but asked me to pass this along.
I also would like to pass along my sympathies to your family.
Maureen and Russ, We send our condolences on the death of your father. Our prayers are with you and your families. We regret we are unable to attend the service today as a result of medical treatment, previously arranged.
God bless, Gwen and Ian
To all of the Tynan family, our family extends our deepest sympathy for your loss. Not only will he be missed by all of us, but by the entire community who knew him well. He will be remembered as a generous, lovable man who brought a smile to many, and who loved his family and friends, the City of Calgary, and the Rotary Club of Calgary.
Aloha – and as we say in Hawaii “A Hui Hou” – until we meet again.
Bev, Mike & Kimberley Fraser
Russ – our sincere condolences to you and your family. Liz and I are having some hospital problems so we won’t be at the service but our thoughts and prayers will be with you and Jill
Your father was an amazing man, loved and respected by all the Stampede Family.
We are all better off for knowing him.
With much love Lee and Liz
So sorry I won’t be at Bill’s service today…seemed to
have acquired a case of shingles….
For nearly fifty years, Bill was a good friend…from selling advertising to the furniture company at CFCN-TV …to the all the quiet and dignified days at Rotary and the Courtesy Card Committee.
Bill was a good man.
Russ, Jill and family – we were very sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad. He obviously made a significant and positive contribution to his family and our community. Please accept our sincere condolences.
Steve and Rene
We are out of town so can not attend the service but want you to know we are thinking of all of you at this time.
The memorial you wrote certainly illustrates his full life and we will pause to celebrate it even though we can’t be with you.
Mark and Pamela

Special memories of Bill from his annual visit to the Courtesy Car Committee Alumni Luncheon. Great stories he shared along with the others of the CCC Alumni!
With thanks for everything you did for us.

We treasure the time of knowing Bill in our home in the Manor Village in Garison Woods.
Last Remembrance Day I was with Bill as we decorated our memories of our wartime years. Bill put on his Navy hat to help set the mood.

Russ and Jill, Maureen and Neil
My prayers and thoughts are with you these days and those to come. It is so hard to say farewell to a Dad,but not so bad to say good-bye to a disease. May you find comfort as you share all your wondeful memories with each other.
God bless.
Mary

Erin Tourigny & Kim Wong
we remember past happy times and send sincere sympathy to you all at this time.
Betty Stiven and family
Although I didn’t know your Dad very well, the times I had visited with him at various social events, I truly enjoyed his sense of humor and his friendly, wonderful smile.
It is always difficult to find the correct words to say at a very sad time like this.
I just wanted you to know that my thoughts are with you and your families.
Sincerely,
Bev
Nancy – Just wanted to send you a little message. Although I never met your dad, his picture in the obituary today was so endearing – could just imagine him wearing his little Irish hat! What a legacy your “Character in the City” has left. It was nice to share a pint with you on St. Paddy’s day and will raise a “wee” pint in honor of you beloved dad!!
On behalf of my late godfather, James Orr and my late parents, Arthur and Kay Williams, my thoughts are with you. The Tynan family were a bright light in the years as I was growing up.
RIP
To the Tynan family:
It was an honour to know Bill through the Rotary Club, and a pleasure to work with him in the Rotary shows. The singing of “O Danny Boy” will never be the same without his voice blending in. My sincere sympathy.

Chris (Penwarn) Borstmayer and Family would like to offer condolences to Russ and the Tynan family on the loss of your father. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
Russ,

Laura Burns and Family
I was saddened to see the passing of your father in the paper. To lose a parent is a very sad and difficult time. To lose a family force, as I imagine your father was, can make one seem a little less grounded and/or anchored. As time passes you will be surprised how his memory/little voice in your head, will help you to find you feet securely back and his presence beside you once again.
My condolences to all of you in these trying times.
Melanie Tetrault-Klapecki
What an amazing gentleman !
He set the bar very high for all those who give of themselves to better the community.
* A sharp entrepreneur
* A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend
*A person, who once you met, you never forgot.
Our city is better because of Bill Tynan
Our sincere condolences to the Tynan family. You will always have the memories of the great times and fun with your Dad. Love and hugs to all. Ann & Dave Rogers
