Obituary of FASOLI – Raffaello Mario

January 7, 1935 – March 19, 2010 Raffaello Mario (Ralph) Fasoli, beloved husband of Clementine (Tina) Fasoli of Calgary, passed away from heart complications in Juarez, Mexico on Friday, March 19, 2010 while vacationing in Puerto Vallarta at the age of 75 years. Raffaello Mario Fasoli also known as “Ralph” was a middle child born January 7, 1935 in Verona, Italy to Valerio and Lucia Fasoli. World War II brought much uncertainty and hardship to the Fasoli family so at age 14; Lucia moved Ralph and his siblings to Belgium to join their father as he found work as a miner in the coal mines. Ralph was educated in Charleroi, Belgium at the technical school “Universite du Travail Paul Pastur” receiving his “Brevet de Capacite” and training in “Metalogy”. He married Clementine (Tina) Boccacci on May 23, 1959 in Chatelet, Belgium before immigrating to Canada. Ralph aspired to be a machinist because of his love and patience of working with metal and had big dreams as he moved from Belgium to find his new home in Calgary. They built their first home in Forest Lawn, Dewinton, Okotoks and then Calgary to be close to his business. Ralph often jokes that he didn’t know a word of English when he arrived, but both were determined to make a successful life for themselves in the new country. Ralph worked as a machinist/millwright until beginning a business in Calgary with his brother Luigi in 1975. They called their new venture Fasoli Industries. In the late 1970’s, Ralph and Luigi parted ways and Clemro Industries Ltd. was incorporated in 1981 and later became Clemro Western Ltd. Ralph and Tina spent many winters in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; a place he called heaven on earth. His recreation activities involved beautifying his farm, watching cooking shows and spending time in deep thought perfecting his inventions at Clemro. Clemro Western Ltd. was Ralph’s pride and joy, “All I ever wanted to do was design and build equipment. I always wanted to make the best”. Ralph invented the Clemro Cone and has Canadian and American patents. Ralph was a finalist in the “Ernst & Young Entreprenuer of The Year for 2008 in the manufacturing division. Ralph was lucky to visit his childhood friends and family in Italy, France and Belgium in the summer of 2009, which brought great joy to his heart. As Ralph aged, he found more time to stop and smell the clover in his hay fields on his farm in Millarville, and found much humour in his grandchildren. As his family saw Ralph drive around slowly on his tractor admiring his accomplishments, Ralph had a smile on his face because he was content. He knew he had done it all and that his life was very complete. Ralph will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Tina; son Emanuel (Lorine) Fasoli, daughter Corinne (Ross) Tucker; grandchildren Dominic, Jasmine, Danelle and Riley. Ralph will also be sadly missed by his brother and best friend Luigi Fasoli, sister Amalia Grygiel and their families, as well as numerous family members throughout Italy and Europe. Ralph was predeceased by his parents Lucia and Valerio and infant brother Mario and sister Maria. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Albert The Great Catholic Church (10 Prestwick Drive S.E.) on Wednesday March 31, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Entombment to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum.
