Obituary of Brent Allen Rees

May 20, 1940 – March 18, 2010 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Brent Rees. Brent was taken from us peacefully and at home after a short but courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at the age of 69 years. Brent had just retired from Chubb Security Systems in December 2009 where he held the Residential Sales Manager’s position for the past fifteen years so he could start enjoying time with his grandchildren, and improve his golf game. He was involved with the Calgary Home Builders Association for over twenty-five years and received the Roof Topper Award in 1991 and 1992 for new membership recruitment. He was also the recipient of the President’s Award in 1992. Brent volunteered for the Macs Major Midget Tournament for over twenty years. Brent was an avid sports fan who cheered his beloved Eskimos and Oilers through good times and bad. He was known to have the best sports bar in town, right in his home where he showcased his sports memorabilia collection. He always lived and loved life to the fullest, and always enjoyed a good laugh. Brent leaves behind his wife and best friend of forty-three years, Bonnie; his son Trent (Sybil) and daughter Heather (Roger) Bourbeau, as well as four grandchildren, Jordan, Jedda, Ayden and Sydney. He is also survived by his four siblings, Bryan (Joyce), Penny, Karen (Randy) and Steve (Jennifer) as well as many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his in-laws and best golf buddies Mike and Donna Berger and Jay and Pat Garlough. Brent was predeceased by his parents Stanley and Frances and brother in-law John Laboda. A Celebration of Brent’s life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Monday, March 22, 2010 at 2:00p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
