Obituary of KRAUSERT – Eunice Donalda

May 16, 1930 – March 1, 2010 With deep sorrow, the family of Eunice Krausert announces her passing on Monday, March 1, 2010 at the age of 79 as the result of complications with breast cancer. Eunice was a devoted and much loved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Eunice was predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, Sam Krausert, her parents Benjamin and Anna Barbara Rye of Okotoks and her brother Clinton Russell Rye. Born in High River, Eunice was a true native of the Province of Alberta. Growing up on a farm outside Okotoks, she learned the values of family, determination and hard-work that would become the foundation of her life. There she found her love of horses with the annual cattle drives her family took part in, from Okotoks to the grazing leases west of Turner Valley. At 17 years old, she met the love of her life, Sam Krausert, in Black Diamond. They were married at Okotoks United Church in December 1949. Eunice supported Sam throughout his career, from working on the drilling rigs to the founding of Beaver Drilling, the company her sons manage to this day. Sam and Eunice’s affection for traveling brought them to all corners of the world. For more than three decades, they spent their winters in Wailea, Maui with many life-long friends. The consummate hostess, Eunice was famous for her lanai gatherings, her cooking and her seasonal vodka. There was always a special place in Eunice’s heart for her grand children, from sleepovers to great memories in Maui, to many dinners and brunches together. Eunice made it a priority to always stay up to date in her grandchildren’s lives. She will be dearly missed. A true matriarch of the family, Eunice is survived by her children Brian (Donna), Keith (Debbie) and Dianne; her grandchildren Jennifer (Matt), Murray, Kevin, Lindsay, Tyler (Laura), Ashley, Conrad and Samuel; and her great-grandchildren Palmer and Isabel. Eunice is also survived by loving sister Verdell, of Seattle. A very special thank you to her lifelong friend, companion and aide, Linda Dadey. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Monday, March 8, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
