Obituary of HARWOOD – Ted

April 28, 1930 – February 5, 2010 Ted Harwood of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 5, 2010 at the age of 79 years. Ted is survived by his two daughters Heather Harwood and Holly Baker; grandson Anthony; and sisters Bev (Vince) Castiglione and Gladys Hambrook. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Audrey. Ted was born April 28, 1930 in Calgary, AB to Laurie and Edna Harwood. Growing up, he loved riding his horse Queenie and visiting his grandparent’s farm in Strathmore. In 1954, he joined Calgary Transit and provided thirty-one years of service to the City of Calgary until he retired in 1985. Ted loved to travel and enjoyed an active retirement. In addition to Calgary, he made his home in Winfield, BC and Sylvan Lake, AB. He spent many warm winters as a snowbird in Arizona, California and Mexico. His most memorable travels included time spent in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the Caribbean. Ted’s favourite activities were golf, curling, lawn and carpet bowling, square dancing, playing cards, and going for long walks with family and friends. Ted lived a wonderful life – his kind manner and gentle spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He will be remembered well and as he embarks on the next part of his journey, we will say, “Bye for now…” A Celebration of Ted’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 3:30 p.m. Forward condolences through .
