Obituary of LINDSAY – Vivienne Gail

January 14, 1940 – February 4, 2010 Vivienne Lindsay, beloved wife of Robert Lindsay of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at the age of 70 years. Vivienne was born and raised in Lethbridge with her brother Roy before the family moved to a ranch in the prairies near Wardlow, AB, whereupon Vivienne was enrolled in the school at the Convent in Medicine Hat. Thereafter she attended and graduated from the Holy Cross School of Nursing in Calgary. Vivienne was confronted by many adverse events in her life, but seldom complained and met them all with formidable fortitude. The family was the centre of her attention and from them she gained her greatest rewards as well as her most profound losses in the deaths of her first husband and later of her elder son. After nursing she entertained many interests, not the least of which was the breeding, grooming and showing of her beloved Soft-Coated Wheaten Terriers. Creative talents were abundant and had many manifestations during her life, culminating in the recent passion for painting in oils. Vivienne, Robert and the children have been and are appreciative of the support given by family, friends and numerous health care personnel over the years, but would particularly acknowledge the renal transplant team at the Foothills Medical Centre who provided her with several years of quality life before the sudden demise. Besides her loving husband Robert, Vivienne is survived by her four children, Cathie VanVeller, Shannon Malloy, Susan (Todd) Fyfe, and Michael (Delia) Malloy; six grandchildren, Colter, Rowen, Geoffrey, Racheal, Emma, and Alistair; her brother Roy (Cecilia) LaValley; and nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Vivienne was predeceased by her son Patrick Malloy; first husband Leon Malloy; parents Jeanette and Emmanuel LaValley. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive S.E.) on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
