Obituary of Gladys Joan FONTEYNE

January 21, 1939 – February 3, 2010 Our loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Joni is survived by her devoted husband Darol Fonteyne of Calgary. She was the proud mother of Graham Fonteyne (her favourite) and wife Laura of Medicine Hat, their children Shanelle, Jeremy, and Lissy; Cara Fonteyne (her favourite), her children Matthew and Christopher of California, and Colin Fonteyne (her favourite) and son, Easton of Manitoba. She is also survived by her sisters Mary Ohrn of Edmonton, and Ruth Gibson of Kapaa, Hawaii; and brother Bruce Arthur of Toronto as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She dedicated many years of her life to nursing and being an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother. Joni loved to make others happy with her gifts of baking, quilting, and gardening. She was an avid hiker, Scrabble player, traveler, and a truly gracious hostess for varieties of birthdays and holiday occasions. Joni your grace, wit charm, and compassion will be missed forever.
