Obituary of GASCHNITZ – Kathleen Kay

June 9, 1914 – February 3, 2010 Mom went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at the age of 95. She was born on the homestead in the Livingston area near Drumheller, AB on June 9, 1914. She was the second of six siblings of the McKee family. She married Joe Gaschnitz, son of a neighbouring family, on December 7, 1932. They settled on a farm north of Munson, AB, and endured several hard years, later moving to a farm six miles north of Drumheller. They raised a family of four loving and beloved children. They moved to Calgary in 1967 after retiring from a successful farm life. Kay and Joe enjoyed a close family life, travelling to Europe and Newfoundland, where many of their relatives still reside. Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband of sixty-one years, Joe, in November 1993; her parents Robert and Mildred McKee; sisters, Claudia and Vi; brother Percy; and great grandson Josiah. She is survived by her children, Joan (Don) Calvert, Penny Andrews, Joe (Shirley) Gaschnitz, and Nola (Darcy) Neufeld; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
