Obituary of ASHMORE – Gwynneth Mary

September 27, 1921 – February 2, 2010 Gwynneth Ashmore beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother of Calgary and formerly of Airdrie, passed away quietly in her sleep at the Carewest George Boyack Centre on February 2, 2010 at the age of 88 years. Gwen was born on September 27, 1921 in Hartlebury, Worcestershire, England. Gwen was a very hard working and dedicated sales manager for 25 years with the Robert Simpson Company Ltd. in Montreal and was very well respected for her knowledge and professional expertise in the China and Silverware industry. She had a deep passion for gardening, knitting, needlepoint, cooking and playing piano. Most of all she dedicated over 27 years of her time and care in voluntary work within her community to the Bethany Care Centre, Kerby Centre, Airdrie Legion and Seniors and Veterans club. Gwynneth Ashmore is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Valerie and Hank Heerema, Sheila Coles; son and daughter-in-law, Monty and Gail Coles; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; brother, Vernon and Joan Etherington as well as two nieces, Lisa and Jane. She was predeceased by her daughter, Shirley Donnelly in 1994, and infant grandson, Brendan Donnelly in 1970. Funeral Services will be held at the Airdrie United Church, 212 – 1st Avenue N.E. on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
