Obituary of AHEARN – Ruth Mary

December 23, 1930 – February 2, 2010 Ruth Mary Ahearn of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at the age of 79 years. Ruth was born in Calgary Alberta (General Hospital), She was proud to be a native Calgarian, and often joked that Calgary would be a great place if they ever finished building it. She had a terrific sense of humour, even into her final few hours. She was equally proud of her Scotch Heritage. Ruth loved to travel with her husband they were able to go to Eastern Canada, the U.S., Hawaii, Scotland Europe, and many trips to B.C. She had a big and generous heart, and was unwavering in her love for family. She was a kind and gentle soul. Family and friends alike will remember her for her good cooking, love of entertaining, and many were recipients of her cake decorating, for her weddings and birthdays. Ruth is survived by her daughter Linda (Al) Zacharias, son Timothy Ahearn, brother Malcolm (Elsie) Cook, grandchildren; Rob (Jodi) Castonguay, Cristy (Darrell) Staigh of Spruce Grove, Andy Stoll of Calgary, great grandchildren; Breanne, Megan and Jordan as well as many nieces and nephews. Our mother will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Lorne (Larry) Timothy Ahearn, January 31, 1996 and her parents (from Scotland) Elizabeth and Malcolm Cook years earlier. A special thanks to (4th floor West) George Boyack Long Term Care Centre, her home for the last nine months. The Doctors, Nurses and Staff at the Peter Lougheed Hospital Emergency Care, that made our mothers final hours comfortable and pain free. We are very grateful for the kindness you showed us. We are going to miss you Mom. God, please take good care of her.
