Obituary of SAUNDERS – Doris Edith

February 17, 1915 – January 29, 2010 Doris Edith Saunders (Spear) (nee Marsden), beloved wife of the late Herbert T Saunders, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2010 at the age of 94 years. Born in Calgary on February 17, 1915, the youngest daughter of H. Roland and Gertrude Marsden. Mom loved to cook and set a mighty tasty table for lots of people, friends and family alike. She was well known for her fancy sandwiches and they were donated on many, many occasions. In her younger years, she liked nothing better than to put on the waders and drop a line into the rivers in the Sundre area. She always said she was happiest while fishing. Doris also enjoyed playing cards and Bingo. She won a “29” at a tournament at #284 Legion and said, “it took her forty years to get it.” She was a long time member of the Legion and ANAF. Doris is survived by daughters, Joy (Stan) Ellwood of Calgary, Ferne (Chuck) Anderson of Calgary and Dode (Bryan) McBean of Chestermere; son Keith Spear; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; only brother Donald Marsden of Tsawwassen, BC; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband Joseph G. Spear; and a grandson; as well as sisters, Ruth Walker and Goldie Archibald. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
