Obituary of VACHON – Joyce

November 18, 1921 – January 27, 2010 Joyce passed away at the age of 88 years on Monday, January 27, 2010 after a brief struggle with cancer. She was predeceased by her husband, RCMP Assistant Commissioner Joe Vachon. She will be dearly missed by her five children, Lea (Martine) of Ottawa, Geoff (Janice) of Calgary, Valoree Jack (Ron) of Ottawa, Linda Brown (Ross) of Regina and D’Arcy of Calgary; seven grandchildren Dave, Daryl, Jessie, Christine, Erin, Jill and Mike and eight great grandchildren. Joyce was born in Souris, Manitoba on November 18, 1921. She grew up in Souris and Brandon, Man. In 1947 she married Joe and as an RCMP family they moved across the country, living in Winnipeg, Ottawa, Whitehorse, Calgary and Regina. After finally settling in Calgary in 1971, she made many dear friends through her bridge and curling clubs and her other activities. Granny as she was known to many also enjoyed great times travelling and vacationing with her family. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the Palliative Care Team. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. Mary’s Cathedral (219 – 18 Avenue S.W.) on Friday, January 29, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
