Obituary of EARL – Audrey Lillian

June 27, 1925 – January 24, 2010 Audrey Earl of Calgary passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2010. Her formative years were during the 1930’s Depression in Black Diamond, AB. An interesting anecdote is the story of a cowboy trying to lasso her mother Annie with Audrey in her arms while walking on 8th Avenue during the Calgary Stampede. Audrey married Ken (Earl) on March 16, 1943. Over the years she faced many challenges following Ken around the oil fields of Saskatchewan and later the Anglican Church parishes when he became a priest. Audrey was the consummate executive assistant managing their lives, children and finances, the latter being an exceptional accomplishment facilitated by her employment with the Royal Bank of Canada of which she was a pensioner. We will cherish our memories and remember her ongoing efforts to live a positive life in spite of the stresses of old age. Audrey is survived by her children and spouses; Eric (Sue), Russell (Linda), Nancy Anne (Reg); six grandchildren, Christopher, Daniel, Margaret-Anne, Alexander, Fraser and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Madeleine and Zachary; brothers, Dennis and Bill Blakeman, and special friends, Bea, Lorraine, B.J., Dianna, Suzanne and Tivola. She was predeceased by her husband Ken and granddaughter, Stephanie. A Celebration of Audrey’s life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W.), on Monday, February 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. You may forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the House of Ruth, Box 712, Kamloops, BC, V2C 5L7.
