Obituary of COATES – Rose Cecilia

January 12, 1920 –December 24, 2009 Rose Coates, beloved wife of the late Herbert Coates of Calgary, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, December 24, 2009 at the age of 89 years. Rose was born in Calgary at her Sunnyside home to Sam and Jenny Taverna, she was the fourth of five children. She married Bert in 1948. Rose will always be remembered for her great cooking; she also enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Rose leaves to cherish her memory, sons Randy (Susan) and Rod; daughter Debra (Wayne) Leibel all of Calgary; sister Elaine Gale of Calgary, sisters-in-law Jean Coates of Calgary, Margaret Taverna of Kelowna, Lydia Taverna of Calgary and many nieces and nephews. Rose was predeceased by her husband Bert in 1996, her sister Frances Dafoe and brothers Tommy and Sam Taverna. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at Holy Name Catholic Church (2223 – 34 Street S.W.) on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens.
