Obituary of McNAUGHTAN – John

July 12, 1917 – December 18, 2009 John beloved husband of Catherine McNaughtan of Calgary, formerly of Didsbury, AB, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2009 at the age of 92 years. John was born in Braco Perthshire, Scotland where he farmed with his father. In 1948 he married Catherine Yellowlees of Acme, AB and they recently celebrated their 61st anniversary. They lived in Scotland until 1951 when they moved to the Didsbury area. John and Catherine farmed in the Neapolis area and later in the Midway community until they retired to Didsbury in 1983. In 2004 they moved to Calgary where he has since resided. In his retirement he enjoyed golfing, painting and bowling. Besides his loving wife Catherine, John is survived by his son Ian of Sydney, Australia, and his three daughters and two sons in law; Margaret McNaughtan of New Westminster, BC, Sheila McNaughtan and Russ Heppell of Edmonton and Elizabeth (Bea) McNaughtan and Joel Mayer of Calgary. He is also survived by his sister in law Edna Yellowlees and her family. Funeral Services will be held at Knox United Church 1406 – 19th Ave. Didsbury, AB on Wednesday December 23, 2009 at 11:30 a.m Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
