Obituary of NELSON – Clyde Tom

March 15, 1922 – December 12, 2009 Clyde Nelson, beloved husband of Nettie Nelson of Calgary, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the age of 87 years. Clyde was born in Nelson, BC. His family moved to Calgary to a home in Ogden where Clyde spent his childhood years. At fifteen, he moved north to Peace River and loved his time in The Peace Country. As a young man he enlisted, and served overseas during WWII, with the 4th Canadian Armoured Brigade. Upon returning from the war he met Nettie and started a family. He retired after thirty years with the Canada Post as a letter carrier. Clyde was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Chapelhow Branch 284. Besides his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Clyde is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Bill Nelson, Bob (Dede) Nelson, Fred (Nancy) Nelson, and John (Ellie) Nelson; seven grandchildren, Grant, Tasha, Marilyn, Ian, Natasha, Willy, and Andrew Nelson. He is also survived by a sister and two brothers-in-law Audrey (Henry) Stevenson of Nelson, BC, and Tad Huck of Calgary. Clyde was predeceased by his parents William and Gladys Nelson and three sisters; Myra Grant, Margaret Fraser, and Helen Huck. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, December 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Services to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
