Obituary of KAPP – Walter John

August 31, 1926 – December 12, 2009 Walter John Kapp passed away peacefully in Calgary, AB on Saturday, December 12, 2009, at the age of 83 years. Walter was born on August 31, 1926, and grew up on the family farm in New Sarepta, AB. He enjoyed a long and rewarding fifty year career in the Canadian oil & gas and mining industries, running his own companies and finally retiring as a drilling superintendent with Home Oil. Walter was known for his kindness and generosity. He loved baseball, hockey, golfing, fishing, animals, architecture, and the outdoors, but found his greatest joy in his family. His quick wit and gift for storytelling will be fondly remembered. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed. Walter was the beloved father of Rob Kapp (Marie Louise) of Calgary, AB and Sharleen Jackson (Russell) of Edmonton, AB. He is lovingly remembered by his four grandchildren, Brett Jackson, and Sarah, Jennifer, and James Kapp, and the mother of his children, Dr. Frances Kapp. He is also survived by two sisters, Lydia Albrecht (Walter) of Edmonton, AB and Ruth Modin (Milton) of Rainbow Beach, Australia; three brothers, Adolph (Doris), Dave (Jean), and Reinhold Kapchinsky (Martha), all of Edmonton, AB, and Gerhard Kapchinsky (Betty) of Kelowna, BC, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Walter was predeceased by his parents Kamilla and Daniel Kapchinsky; sisters, Elsie and Wanda; and brother Victor. Funeral services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Friday, December 18, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens.
