Obituary of FUNK – Henry

October 25, 1929 – December 9, 2009 Henry Funk, beloved husband of Marie Funk of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at the age of 80 years. Henry was born in Main Centre, SK. He came to Calgary in 1950, where he has since resided. He worked for the City of Calgary with pride and diligence for thirty-three years, retiring in 1986. Henry will be sadly missed by his wife of 55 years, Marie and by his two daughters, Gwen (Daryl) Aarons of Chestermere and Darla (Gerry) Steele of Calgary; daughter-in-law, Calli Funk of Prince George, B.C.; eight grandchildren, Blaine Barnes (Rose Krawec), Ryan (Tiziana) Barnes, Kendra Barnes, Caitlin Funk, Christina Funk, Jordan Steele, Karlee Steele, and Jason Aarons. He is also survived by two brothers, Aron Funk and Jake (Jeanette) Funk; six sisters, Lena (Norman) Cornelson, Sarah Dueck, Tina (Wes) Cornelson, Anne (Ben) Petkau, Marie (Henry) Dueck, and Eva (Elmer) Dueck. Henry will be joining his son, Greg, who passed away on December 31, 2008. Henry’s pride and joy were his children but his grandchildren put that special twinkle in his eyes. His favourite pastime was a cup of coffee while playing a good game of crib with his friends. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Monday, December 14, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church (4747 – 30th Street S.E.) on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow in the Good Shepherd Cemetery at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
