Obituary of DAOUST – Paul Ernest

April 18, 1947 – December 9, 2009 It is with great sadness that the family of Paul Ernest Daoust, of Calgary announces his sudden passing on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at the age of 62 years. Paul was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba on April 18th, 1947. Paul grew up and was educated in Ottawa, Ontario and moved west to Calgary in 1976. In July of 1997 Paul married his ‘darlin’ wife and soul mate Loretta, who was his life’s love and best friend, and to whom he demonstrated his adoration daily. Paul worked for the past ten years with Titan Supply LP, as a salesman serving the Calgary, Brooks and Medicine Hat area. Paul enjoyed working with his co-workers and clients and considered them all in his circle of friends. Paul distinguished himself with many awards and accolades throughout his career. Paul was an avid reader who loved expanding his knowledge on a myriad of subjects and was a fountain of information for his friends and family. Paul had many hobbies spending hours in his shop refurbishing items from decades past into usable items of the present, both for his own collection and as gifts for others. Paul cherished his restored 1960 Cadillac Fleetwood sixty special. He loved the music of decades past and had amassed an extensive collection of record albums of all his favourites. As the son of an RCAF flight instructor, Paul honoured his heritage by serving in the RCAF and accumulated a cherished collection of memorabilia including several items from his father’s distinguished career. Paul always flourished in the spring and summer along with his beautiful garden which he planted in memory of his mother. Paul took great comfort in his home and worked continuously on one renovation project after another. One of Paul’s greatest joys was spending time conversing with his neighbours and lending a hand whenever he was needed. He truly felt his community was a part of his extended family. Paul took great pride as a surrogate father to two special boys Ben and Nick and helped their mother Chris nurture them into young adulthood. Paul is survived by brothers, Jacques (Cindy – deceased) of Ottawa, Mike (Gini) of Kemptville, Denis (Kathleen) of Ottawa, Marc (Claire) of Ottawa. He is also lovingly remembered by brothers and sisters-in-law Danny Kennedy (Marvina) of Belleville, Donna Begin (Reg) of Calgary, Catherine Pigat (Anthony) of Thunder Bay, Susan Gagne (Albert) of Bellville, Joseph Kennedy (Debbie) of Belleville, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
