Obituary of McLEAN – Patrick Douglas Paddy
July 20, 1936 – September 18, 2009
Patrick Douglas “Paddy” McLean of Calgary passed away after a courageous five-year battle with cancer on Friday, September 18, 2009 at the age of 73 years, with his loving family by his side.
Paddy was born on July 20, 1936 in Dominion, NS. As a young man, he moved West and joined the #1 PPCLI in 1955. He completed four tours in Germany, two tours with the UN, one in Cyprus and one in Egypt. Upon completion of 23 years of Military Service, he spent 20 years with the Calgary School Board. In his retirement, Paddy enjoyed spending time with his wife, kids, and especially his grandchildren. He will be missed and never forgotten.
Paddy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Geri; children Mike (Sue), Greg (Roxanne), and Kathryn; and grandchildren William, Nicholas, and Cody.
A Memorial Service for Paddy will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Following the Service, a celebration of Paddy’s life will be held at the Forest Lawn Royal Canadian Legion #275 (755 40 Street SE).
