Obituary of D’AMICO – Zupito

February 13, 1916 – September 12, 2009 Zupito D’Amico passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary on Saturday September 12, 2009. Lovingly remembered by his wife of sixty-seven years, Metha, by his daughter Carol (Al) Kiernan; sons, Fred (Mary), Pete and Chuck; his grandchildren, Pat (Dawn), Cindy (Sam), Danielle (Rob), Daryl (Sandy), Michael (Kaley), Cody, Jennifer, Erin and Leigha (Cam), and his eleven great-grandchildren Zupi is survived by his sister, Maggie Morris, and Metha’s brother Eric (Dolores), and sisters, Elly (Vince), Johanna (Fred), and Vera. Zupi was predeceased by great-grandson Tyler, sisters Vera and Serena, and brothers Guido and Alfredo. Zupi was born in Nordegg, Alberta on February 13, 1916. Following service in WWII, he attended the University of Alberta. He graduated in 1948 as a mining engineer. He worked in Nordegg, Michel and Kananaskis before entering the oil business. His career culminated with the creation of Larsen & D’Amico Manufacturing, from which he retired in 1981. Zupi was proud to be an engineer and was a life member of APEGGA. He was past Master of King Solomon Masonic Lodge in Cochrane. Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Monday September, 14, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Unit 71 and Unit 73 at the Rockyview Hospital, or to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, www.alzheimer.ca.
