Obituary of WALSH – Claire Gertrude

December 24, 1916 – September 5, 2009 Claire Gertrude Walsh of Calgary, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at the Sarcee Nursing Home. Claire was born December 24, 1916 in Provost, Alberta to her parents John Peter and Gertrude Ehlinger who owned and operated the local hardware store for many years. After a happy childhood and concluding high school in Provost, Claire entered the Edmonton General Hospital School of Nursing from which she graduated in 1938. While training at the Edmonton General she made life long friendships amongst her classmates and spent many happy times with them over the years, including attending class reunions in Western Canada and the United States. After she married and moved to Calgary, she raised four fine children who loved her very dearly throughout her life. While in Calgary she was a loyal and steadfast employee for the Department of National Defence, the Charles E. Frosst and Co., and several law firms. Claire enjoyed many years of retirement in Kelowna, B.C. during which she traveled widely with her close friends to Europe, the United States and the West Indies. Clair’s pride and joy remained her four children, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her mother, father and sister Frances. She is survived by her son Don(Regine) Walsh of Annapolis, Maryland; daughter Pat Raymaker(Darryl) of Calgary; daughter Trudy Hughes(Bob) of Calgary and son John Peter(Nancy) Walsh of Charlotte, North Carolina. Also surviving her are her grandchildren, Derek, Patrick and Nicole Raymaker, Morgan Khan(Jonade), Parker Hughes, Jerry(Kate) Walsh , Matthew and Maggie Walsh; great grandchildren, Samantha and Roxanne Walsh.
