Obituary of MONTGOMERY – Lillian Margaret

January 10, 1930 – August 28, 2009 Peggy, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, August 28, 2009 at the age of 79, after a battle with Alzheimer’s. Peggy will be lovingly remembered by her husband of fifty-nine years, George; children, Glenn (Linda), Lynda (Ron), Rhonda (Ken), Donna (John), Jayne (John), Colleen (Ron), and Colin; six grandchildren, Greg, Ashley (Justin), Kaley, Michael, Jack and Alex; and one great-grandchild, Haydan. She also leaves to mourn siblings, Joyce, John (Irene); and many other relatives and dear friends. She was predeceased by her son, Robert Montgomery and siblings, William and June Wood. Peggy was born to Clara and Robert Wood in Wayne, AB on January 10, 1930. Her and her loving husband George were married on December 16, 1950 and settled in Calgary. They moved several times within Canada before settling in Edmonton in 1964 where they remained until 1989 to raise their eight children. Peggy spent her retirement years in Calgary where she was actively involved with her children and grandchildren, played a game or two of bingo and enjoyed trips to Phoenix each winter. Peggy’s home was always open to family and friends and she was known for her “art of entertaining”, love of music, quick wit and for effectively and efficiently managing a household of ten. Funeral Services for Peggy Montgomery will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
