Obituary of Vera Freko

Vera Freko, resident of the Bethany Care Centre Calgary, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2009 at the age of 83 years. Vera was born in Hamburg, Germany. She was a high fashion model and clothing designer in the 1940’s. Vera immigrated to Canada in 1954 with her first husband where she continued in the clothing design industry. After raising two sons, she began a real-estate holding company in the 1970’s with her second husband. She retired in 1977 to enjoy a number of years of travel, hobbies and other interests including her love of fashion design. Vera is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ron Janert, and Andrew and Diane Janert. She was predeceased by her first husband Waldemar O. Janert in 1972, and her second husband Thomas C. Mullen in 1977, and her third husband Gordon J. Freko in 1987.
