Obituary of Dana Lee Winnipeg

With great sadness we say goodbye to our cherished Mother, Granddaughter, God-Daughter, Daughter, Sister, Auntie, Niece, Cousin, and Friend, Dana Lee Winnipeg-Noltcho (also known by her pen name Theory Little Light (Olyver Oyl) and affectionately as “Spitakii”, “Stampede Wrestler” and the other “spaghetti sister.” Dana leaves behind her beloved children, Taelynn, Jacob Jr. “Leo”, Rayden “ray-ray” and Baby Tathyna; and her adopted sons, Zarek Wright-Winnipeg, Leon Jr. Bear Hat “U”, and Jack Billette “Jack-Jack”. She also leaves to mourn her parents Gordon (Shannon) and Becky (Douglas); adopted mom Ethel Winnipeg, God-parents Tony Yellow Horse and Colleen Two Horns; grandparents James Calf, Hector and Elsie Winnipeg; brothers and sisters, Terrance “Gopher”, Sherida, Desi, Esa, Fiona, Terrilynn, Surya, Gordon Jr., Christina (Everett), Jason, Graham (Montana) and Douglas Jr.; adopted brothers and sisters, Melvin LL., Carrie LL., Tasha MM., Harley Jr. LL., Tanya SL., Nichole W., Tyler W., Cory A., Sheldon A., and Quinn H.; life-long friend Lena Breaker; boyfriend Joshua Good Eagle; and numerous Aunties, Uncles, cousins from the Winnipeg, Many Heads, Little Light, Scalplock, Cayenne, Black, Many Guns, Red Gun, Backfat, Spring Chief, Bear Hat, Royal, Leather, Janvier, Scanie, Piche, Matchatis, Bearchief, White Eagle, Yellow Horse, Yellow Old Woman, Mayfield, Medicine Traveller, Turning Robe, Poor Eagles and Drunken Chief and many family and friends too many to name. The family apologizes for anyone missed. Dana loved everyone she ever met and made everyone feel special. She made friends easily and kept them. She was so unique that she fit in any and every crowd or group of people, young and old. Her energetic spirit, careless, young at heart free spirit made her the perfect mom to any kids, especially her own. When she spotted a loved one, you could be prepared for a huge smile, “long/tall” wave and a close-to-the-heart-double-wrap-around hug! Her passion was writing. Ever since she discovered how to pour her heart out onto a piece of paper, she never stopped. She was very articulate, creative and inspirational about her writings and poetry. Her love for writing was paralleled only by her passion for her music. She could have the ultimate sound track to her life! She had the gift of fun – her infectious laugh would fill a room and all the hearts in it. Dana prided herself in the fact that she was part of the Brave Dog Society of Siksika Nation. She was an active member of this years’ Powwow Committee which she was dedicated to and believed would be a great success. Dana lived her life out loud and in such a carefree manner that every person around her felt her presence and was left with a “Dana Story” to remember her by. Her antics always had something funny or positive to say about all who loved her. Dana will truly be missed by her many friends and family. She was predeceased by great-grandfather Harry Janvier; grandparents, Patricia Black, Francis Little Light and Annie Many Heads; her husband Jacob Winnipeg-Noltcho; sister Angela Marlene (Kee moo) Sivanertok, Debra Faith Winnipeg; adopted sisters, Natasha Many Shots, Vanessa Red Crow, and Jillian Little Light; and uncles, Fred Little Light, Errol (Smokey) Little Light, Bedford Little Light, Gino Royal, and Stanford Royal. Wake Services will be held at the Siksika Community Centre (Siksika Nation, AB) on Sunday, April 5, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Siksika Community Centre (Siksika Nation, AB) on Monday, April 6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside service to follow at the Paul Little Walker Cemetery.
