Obituary of Joseph Roland Edgar Blouin

Edgar Blouin of Calgary passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at the age of 64 years. Edgar was born on September 20, 1943, in Gravelbourgh, SK. At a young age his family moved to Oshawa, ON, where he attended Holy Cross School. As a young man he moved to Hanmer, ON where he worked in the drywall trade. He later moved west where he took on a position as general foreman for summit Solar Contractors. As Superintendent, Edgar continued to work for Summit for the next twenty-five odd years, never missing a day of work. He earned the reputation as a great boss and accomplished builder, lending his considerable knowledge to projects such as Bankers Hall, The New Alberta Children’s Hospital, The Museum of The Regiments, and SAIT’s Heritage Building, where he was honoured with a commemorative brick for his efforts. Edgar was a simple man, he spent his time with family and friends playing darts and sipping on the occasional cold one with the guys. He will be remembered for his humour, his generosity, and for the love he so openly showed to so many people. Edgar will be lovingly remembered by his wife Cheryl; stepson, Collin Mac Vicar and his wife Kari; stepdaughters, Janet Mac Vicar and Lynn Ranger; grandchildren, James, Kristen, Joseph, Austin, Ryan, Raenna, and Morgan. He is also survived by sisters, Rose Seagrove, Ceceile and her husband Dan Butt all of Oshawa, ON, and Aline Gogeon of Hanmer; brothers and their wives, George and Marie of Longlac, ON, Roger and Carmel of Hanmer, John and Cathy of Sudbury, ON, Robert and Pricella of Longlac, and his best friend, his dog Buddy. Edgar was predeceased by his parents Regina and Horace Blouin; brothers Maurice and Donald and brothers-in-law, Don and Bill. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at 12:30 P.M.
