Obituary of Bob Armstrong

George Robert “Bob” Armstrong passed away on Thursday, March 27th 2008, at age 77, four years after being diagnosed with Lewy Bodies dementia. Bob was born November 28th 1930 in Calgary, AB to Stella and Robert Armstrong who raised him, along with his brother Donald and two sisters, Marjorie and Edith. On the 20th of September 1952 Bob married the love of his life, Virginia Dain. In October of 1953 they began to raise their family and in 1959 moved to the community of Westgate. In the early years of life in Westgate Bob involved himself with the Community Association where he served as Sports Director and minor house league coach. Bob considered the eight years spent in night school to receive his CMA as one of his proudest professional achievements. His family considered the time he spent with them and his handmade gifts bearing the plaque “Made in Grandpa’s Workshop” to be of even greater regard. Bob retired from Halliburton Oil Services on March 31st 1990 after forty years of dedicated service. Bob is survived by his spouse Virginia and children Laurie (Gerry) Perry, Gary (Maggie) Armstrong, Sandy (Robert) Albrecht, Melody (Jon) Chardon and grandchildren, Matt, Jeff, Mark, Jamie, Chris, Molly and Sophie. Bob was predeceased by his son Dougie, his parents Robert and Stella and brother Donald.
