Obituary of Elizabeth Slind

Betty Slind, beloved wife of the late Herman and mother of Wesley of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at the age of 82. Betty was born in Sweden and came to the Geraldton, Ontario area of Canada with her family at a very young age. She was a World War II Canadian Forces Veteran in communications. After their marriage, Betty and Herman farmed in Archerwill, Saskatchewan where they raised Black Angus cattle and grains. They were overjoyed when Wesley arrived to complete their family. Betty loved children and when they retired from farming and moved to Calgary, Betty provided respite care for families and children with developmental disabilities. She was a tremendous support to dozens of families over many years. Betty is survived by her son Wesley and his partner Gwen; brother Jack Hollstedt of Kamloops; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was predeceased by her brother Bob Hollstedt and her sister Inez Blair. Betty’s many friends and family remember how she loved to tease and laugh and will miss her wonderful smile.
