Obituary of Sun Walk

After a lengthy illness, Renate was called home to our Lord on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at the Southwood Hospice. Renate was born on June 10, 1969 in Bassano, AB. She attended Crowfoot School and later Old Sun Community College. She recently completed a Life Skills program for couples along with Alfred. She was active in the White Buffalo Ladies Group. When she was younger, Renate was a fancy dancer. Along with her family, she travelled to many pow-wows throughout Canada and the United States. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, laughter, kind-heartednesss and her fiestiness. Renate leaves to mourn her two children, David and Jodi; and husband Alfred. She is also survived by her mother Rosalina Sun Walk and step-mother Florence (Tama) Sun Walk; siblings Trent (Elaine), Troy (Jocelyn), Sheldon (Charmaine), Wynette (Lee), June and Bobbi, and half sister Jennifer (Archie) Big Old Man. Also left to mourn are Renate’s aunts Dorothy (Albert) Owl Child, Clara (Frank) Big Tobacco, Shirley and Andrea Wolf Leg, Ruth (Francis) Melting Tallow; uncle Robert Calf Sr. and James Calf; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Extended family includes Calf, Calf Robes, Wolf Legs, Bear Shirts, Many Bears, Many Fires, Many Shots, Poor Eagles, Pards, Scalp Locks, Sitting Eagles, Solways, White Eagles, White Elks and White Mans. The family apoligizes for anyone they may have missed. Renate goes to join her father Robert; brother Wesley Sun Walk; grandparents Henry and Clara Sun Walk, Richard and Clara Wolf Leg; uncles Leo and Garry Sun Walk, Jerome Wolf Leg; and aunts Ruby, Ramona and Pauline Sun Walk. Wake Services will be held at the Sister Celine Parish Hall (Siksika Nation, AB) on Friday, February 22, 2008 beginning at 4:00 p.m. for family and 6:00 p.m. for friends and public. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Siksika Nation, AB.) on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Little Washington Cemetery.
