Obituary of Shirley Hawkins

Shirley May Hawkins, beloved wife of Robert Hawkins of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at the age of 75 Shirley was born on April 22, 1932 in Estevan, SK. In 1943 the family moved to Trail, BC where Shirley grew up and graduated from High School. She married Robert Hawkins on April 20, 1957 in Trail and shortly after their marriage they came to Calgary. In 1959 Shirley and Robert moved to Edmonton where she worked part-time and began to raise her family. In 1971 the family returned to Calgary where Shirley attended the U of C, receiving her BA in 1979. She began a career in real estate in Calgary. Shirley was an active member of Holy Cross Anglican Church, a founding member of the Harvest Hills Community Assn. and many other organizations. Shirley loved to travel with her family and was an avid reader. Shirley is survived by her loving husband Robert, her children and their spouses, Scott and Cheryl of Sherwood Park, AB, Colin and Matia of Calgary, Grant and Josie of Vancouver, BC; grandchildren, Robert, Karah and Sean; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers. Funeral Services will be held at Holy Cross Anglican Church (2828 – 19th Street N.W.) on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Services will be held in Castlegar, BC at a later date.
