Obituary of Amy Wilkie

Amy passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 24, 2007 in Calgary at the age of 93 years. Amy was born near Leduc, AB where she finished her schooling before moving to Edmonton. She married Arthur in 1943 and they moved to Calgary where she was a stay at home mom for twelve years before returning to the work force until the age of 78. Amy was a long time member of Hillhurst United Church as well as being active in the UCW and the church choir. She had a great love for “good” music and was a regular at the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra concerts. Amy enjoyed all aspects of life, especially if it involved family gatherings and lunch outings with her many friends as a member of the Renfrew 50 Plus Club. We will forever remember your loving support and positive attitude. Your strength has been an inspiration that has enriched our lives. Amy was a strong, devoted and loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Gordon Long; daughter-in-law Carol Wilkie; grandchildren Tyson (Mandy) Long, Jaime (Ken) Freestone, Kyla (Darren) Palyszniuk and Erin (Jake) Montgomery; great-grandchildren, Charles Long, Hudsyn and Carter Palyszniuk; step great-grandchildren, Gage and Peyton Freestone. She is also survived and will be missed by her two sisters, Edna and Marion and her two brothers, Jack and Reg as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Amy was predeceased by her husband Arthur in 1977; son Eugene in 2005 and her brothers Kenneth, Walter and Eugene.
