Obituary
Obituary of Frances Patricia Killey
Mom passed away peacefully after an amazing and valiant two-and-a-half year struggle with lung cancer.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Jim Sr. in 1990, and will be profoundly missed by Tingo; son Jim Jr.; and daughter Kathleen (Cass) her son-in-law Jim Ogle. Her special grandson Liam; and wonderful step-grandchildren, Ben, Bryan, Heather and Bill Ogle.
She is also survived by her dear sister Dorothy (David) Hebenton, Sue, Chris and Michael; and her brother Bruce (Violet) Christianson, Keith, Karen and Wendy.
Mom will be so deeply missed by our dear family friend Tony Kovach, and her very special niece Sue Hebenton. Mom was born in Drumheller, AB, and lived her early childhood in Three Hills, moving to Calgary in her teens.
There she attended Central High School and then Mount Royal College. She worked in the oil industry, modelled for Eaton’s, and was a 1953 Stampede Princess before meeting dad and marrying on a rainy-snowy June day in 1956.
Mom’s whole focus in life was her family, her home, and being our wonderful mother. Aside from being an avid shopper, mom had a passion for decorating her home, acquiring antiques, appreciating fine art, a keen interest in current affairs, and an unwavering love and devotion for her animal companions Snoopy, Nickie, China and Tingo. She was a past member of the Board of Directors at the Calgary Humane Society, and a founding member of PALS (pet visitation society).
Springtime was an absolute delight to mom, she couldn’t wait to spend hours in the garden centres to fill her yard with blooms.
Jim and Cass would specifically like to thank those friends and family who extended their prayers and support during this difficult time. We especially want to extend our most heartfelt thanks to mom’s Home Care nurses Nishma, Deb, and June , who not only became part of our family, but enabled us to have mom at home: the only place she wanted to be. At mom’s express wish, no formal service will be held.
A gathering will be held on Friday, November 23, 2007 at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com If friends or family desire, mom would greatly appreciate your donation to the Crowsnest Pass, S.P.C.A.
