Obituary of Sophia Pui Mee Chow

Sophia Chow beloved wife of Henry Chow of Calgary passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at the age of 71 years. Sophia was born in Tai Shan County, China on February 16, 1936. Sophia married Henry on February 7, 1959 in Victoria, Hong Kong, coming to Canada shortly thereafter. Arriving in Vancouver, B.C. on May 30, 1959, Sophia and Henry resided in Medicine Hat where they co-operated a family business for many years, before moving to Calgary in April of 2001 to be nearer to their family. Sophia loved to socialize and meet new friends. Her most treasured moments were to spend time with and cook for friends and family. Besides her loving husband Henry Chee Ying Chow Sophia is also survived by her son Ray Chow of Edmonton, AB, her daughter Cynthia and Roger Chan of Calgary, AB, grand-daughters Megan and Gillian Chan of Calgary, AB. Sophia is also survived by her brother Tom (Tara) Mark of Calgary, AB; brothers-in-law Tony (Jean), King (Shirley), Ming (Angela), Ping (Connie) Chow, sisters-in-law, Fung Ngun Chin and Jean (Johnny) Wong, as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Calgary, Vancouver, Medicine Hat, Ottawa and Maryland, USA. Sophia was predeceased by her mother Lee Yuk Sun, father Mark Soon Dick and brother Mark Ott Poy. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, November 26, 2007 from 6:00 P.M. till 8:30 P.M. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
