Obituary of William Tyler Hamilton

William Tyler Hamilton, beloved husband of Jeannette (Jan) of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 12, 2007 at the age of 82 years. Bill was born in Nanaimo, BC and grew up in Powell River, BC. He enlisted in the Canadian Navy as an Ordinary Seaman at the age of seventeen and a half. He served for three years, being discharged with a commission as a Sub-Lieutenant in 1945. Bill then attended the University of British Columbia, graduating with a degree in Law. He was employed in the oil industry for a period of forty years, being successively associated with Imperial Oil Ltd., Total Petroleum (North America) Ltd., West Coast Petroleum Ltd. and Coral Petroleum Ltd. During this period he served a term as Chairman of the Canadian Petroleum Association, President of the Calgary Petroleum Club, Chairman of the Oilmen’s Golf Tournament and a member of the Calgary Golf and Country Club, as well as being active in various charitable organizations. Bill is survived by his loving wife Jan; his three daughters and sons-in law Lynda and Gordon Weicker, Diane and Philip Coggins, Carol and Richard Hall and his four grandchildren Krista, Bradley, Blake and Rory. Bill is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Allen and Moyra.
