Condolences
I took ENEN 663 - water treatment class with Tay in 2016 and he forever changed and solidify why I wanted to be an environmental engineer. He was an outstanding prof and someone you can go to for any questions you have. I moved to states and started studying for PE this month and I wanted to refer to his notes and I as I started studying, I wanted to send him a thank you note for teaching the class so well, that's when i learned he had passed away. Prof Tay, you will forever be missed! and thank you so much for all you did and the positive impact you left on me and I am sure many others! RIP.
It is really sad to learn that "Prof Tay" had left us. The news made me cry. I still vividly remember my first meeting with him at NTU when I was a new Masters student from China, looking for an advisor. Prof Tay was always ready to help his students. He won the respect from us all. Even though I switched my career from engineering to something else, I have always regarded Prof Tay as my role model, and a source of inspiration.
Rest in peace, Prof Tay! You will live in the hearts of many!
Joo-Hwa was a valued colleague, and fellow Editor of the Journal of Hazardous Materials. Most importantly he was a friend, whose enthusiasm and positive attitude made our collective work such a joy. We miss him terribly already, and my thoughts are very much with the family. Rest in peace, my friend.

My deepest and dearest condolences to the family of Tay, my dear Editor and friend. I am so sorry to hear this shocking news and pray for all of you. Tay to me was such a bright and happy and cheerful person who was a voice of reason, a voice of passion, and a voice of intellect. He will be genuinely missed and my heart is truly hurting today.
You will always be remembered. HAZMAT will never be the same.
Always and truly,

I pray that in the midst of your sorrow you find comfort in all the joyful memories shared.
