Obituary of Muriel Russell
Muriel Joyce (M.J.) (nee Lamb) of Calgary passed away on Tuesday, October, 24, 2006 at the age of 75 years.
M.J. was born April 14, 1931 in Russell, Manitoba and moved to Calgary as a youth. M.J. wed her best friend Norm Russell on March 5, 1955. Not only were they partners in life, but partners in business at Norm’s Ski Hut. For over thirty years M.J. was responsible for the Russell Ski School at Mount Norquay, later known as the Weekend Warriors. She truly loved each and every child who was involved in the Program. A special part of M.J.’s life was her time spent at Sylvan Lake and golfing at the Lakewood Golf Course.
The light of M.J.’s life was her children and their spouses, Andi (Tim Mellon), Brooks (Anna Iskra), Dan (Bonita Hoffman Russell), and Kori (Marty Burke); and grandchildren, Quinlan, Patrick, Andrew, Emma, Dasha, Serenity, and Justen. M.J. is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law Brooks (Bernice) Lamb; two sisters-in-law Betty Lamb, and Joan Lamb; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Glenn (Freddie) Russell; numerous nieces and nephews and friends. M.J. was predeceased by her beloved husband Norm on October 1, 2005; an infant son Robert; an infant grandson Walter, and son-in-law Tom.
Funeral Services will be held at Living Spirit United Church (900 47 Avenue S.W.) on Friday, October 27, 2006 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Rita M. Cattell, Presider.
