Obituary of Helga Oppl
Helga Oppl passed away unexpectedly on October 5th 2006 at her home in Calgary.
She was born to Franz and Anna Hoehn in Schweinfurt, Germany on 28th September 1940. After marrying Herbert Oppl in 1960 they immigrated to Canada in 1963, settling in Calgary, Alberta. Helga was devoted to Herbert and she had a strong sense of family values and loyalty, caring deeply for her friends and staff and making everyone’s life richer for having known her. Friendly and vivacious to the end, with a sparkling sense of humour, fun and adventure, she helped develop the family business, Bavarian Machine Works, later becoming President.
Helga was predeceased by Herbert and her parents, and is survived by her son Stephen Oppl in Calgary, her sister Erika Stahl, Birgit and Werner Gossman and extended family in Germany and many friends on both sides of the Atlantic. She will be missed more than can be expressed and the sorrow felt upon her passing is immeasurable.
