Condolences
When I was a reporter in Edmonton, Mr. Farran was Solicitor General in the Lougheed government. One morning I entered his outer office and asked to speak to the Minister. He agreed to have a chat about a matter I found disturbing. It related to a newspaper advertisement for a brand of liquor. The ad depicted a broken bottle of liquor on a sidewalk, with the caption 'Broken dreams'. I thought it to be offensive; he agreed and promptly contacted the powers-that-be and in a heartbeat the ad was pulled. I was so impressed by the humanity he displayed by his gesture.
I’m hoping to find his book, came across his incredible work in Crete, by Antony Beevor, and now thru Col.Blair Mayne,s bio. You all must be always very proud, sincerely Andrew Pendlebury.
