Obituary of Mary Grace Melvin
MELVIN – Mary Grace
1919 – 2006
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and friend, Mary Melvin, of Calgary. She passed away peacefully in the early hours of Monday, May 8, 2006 at her home surrounded by her family and friends.
Mary loved nothing more than spending an afternoon in the company of her family, playing bingo and going on outings. She was also an avid Calgary Flames fan. Mary was a member of the RCL #1 BR. LA. for twenty-seven years.
Mary is survived by her loving children, Daniel (Pat) Melvin, Ethel (Ray) Hollingshead, Agnes (George) Hansen, Marlene (Ebby) McTighe, Doreen (John) Kaschl and Sandra (Brent) Young; her stepchildren, Joyce (Mac) Reid and Marie (Peter) Mrochen. She is also survived by her forty-two grandchildren, her sixty-six great grandchildren and by her twelve great-great grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Alexander Melvin; her parents, Edwin and Martha Smith; her sons, Donald Melvin, Ronald Melvin and Clinton Melvin; her daughters, Margaret Bruce and Georgina Melvin; her step daughter Jessie Walters; her grandchildren, Warren Hollingshead, Blaine Melvin and Devin Young; and by her great grandchildren, Stephanie McKerlie, Victoria Harding and Taylor Hollingshead. Mary was also predeceased by her five brothers, Gordon, Dan, Alec, Andrew and Art Smith; and by her sister Frances Bannerman.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Thursday, May 11, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Friday, May 12, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at the Forest Grove Care Centre and the medical staff of the Foothills Hospital Unit #32 for their care.
