Adrian Domingo

Obituary of Adrian Domingo

Surrounded by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren, Adrian Domingo passed away peacefully on Friday Sept 16 at Foothills Hospital after a two year bout with cancer. Adrian was born in Bangalore, India, the third of four children of Peter and Magdalene Domingo. Following his university education he began his teaching career in Ethiopia where his new bride Merle joined him. After a few years in England, the family immigrated to northern Alberta and eventually settled in Drumheller for 32 years. Adrian was a respected and esteemed English teacher who honored each individual student’s potential and uniqueness. He retired in 1989 and moved to Calgary in 1997. Adrian was predeceased by his brother Patrick. He is survived by his dearly loved sisters Mary (Minnie) and Hyacinth both in India. He and his devoted wife Merle just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary along with children Nimi and Paul Bowman, Ravi Domingo and Elana Sabajon, Prem and Claudia Domingo, Leela Domingo, and Vijay and Suzanne Domingo. He was devoted to his beloved grandchildren Maia, Jarod, Gloria, Jadon, Anu, and Adrianna. Adrian’s priority was his family and he will be fondly remembered for his wisdom, compassion, commitment, integrity, and selflessness. He took great joy in the celebration of birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions. His warmth, affection, humour, and love have given all his family many beautiful memories of this wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Adrian was a dedicated servant of God who endeavoured with all his heart to follow in the footsteps of Jesus whom he loved. He was committed to daily prayer, meditation, and devotion. He was faithful to the Church and to the sacraments, especially the Eucharist which he regarded as God’s greatest gift. He was a fabulous gardener whose glorious flowers reflected his tender care and attention. He taught all who knew him by his example especially in the last hours of his life. As he prepared for his death he drew his family close to him and gave of himself. He reminded them that the answers to your questions will be placed within your heart. Above all, his final hours proclaimed, “Be Not Afraid.” Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at Ascension Catholic Church (1100 Berkshire Blvd NW) on Tuesday Sept 20th , 2005 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday Sept 21st , 2005 at 10:00 a.m. also at Ascension Catholic Church.
