Obituary of Joseph William Lukacs
A golden heart stopped beating
Hard-working hands put to rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
Joseph Lukacs, beloved husband of Miady of Calgary passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2005, at the age of 86 years, due to heart failure and lung problems, surrounded by his loving family.
Joe was born on July 18, 1919 in Retlaw, AB, the sixth child of a family of eleven to John and Mary Lukacs. He would master anything from farming to plumbing and mechanical work, and also had the talent of witching wells. Joe spent twenty-seven of his years with Crown Lumber, Crown Zellerbach. He knew his lumber – soft or hard, inch by inch, foot by foot. He loved to sing and chat with people. Most of all he loved to spend time with his grandchildren of whom he was very proud.
Joe leaves behind his loving and dear wife of almost fifty-five years, Miady; his three sons, Harvey of Calgary, Terry (Susan) and their daughter McKenzie of Springbank and John (Elisa) and their children, Carmela, Magdalena, Martina, John Jr., Julianna, Tomas, and Teresa, all of Olds, AB; two brothers, Bernie (Elsie) and Lawrence (Mary), all of Calgary; three sisters, Agnes O’Sullivan of Calgary, Irene Clark of Lethbridge, AB, and Christina Anderson of Balzac, AB; and many nieces, nephews and very dear in-laws, Ettore, Marie and Franco Della Penna; as well as dad’s loving dog Nicol. Joe was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.
