Obituary of Egbert Antonie Adriaan Westerbeek

Egbert (Ep) Westerbeek passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2005 at the age of 74 years, after a courageous battle with cancer. Ep was born in Leyden, Holland in 1931. Ep came to Calgary with his wife and children in 1957. He joined the Lord Strathcona’s Horse Military Band from 1957 until 1962, and then later the Black Watch, RCA, and the P.P.C.L.I. Bands from 1962 until 1983. Since his retirement, Ep continued his love of music especially during his final days. Ep will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Rita; a daughter and son-in-law Jane and Gerry Turner; a son and daughter-in-law Robert and Claudette; and six grandchildren, Julie, Lisa, Natalie, Nicole, Jevon and Danielle. He also leaves behind two brothers and three sisters and their families in Holland. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Friday, August 26, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev.
