Obituary of Ronald Henry Clarke Hooper

Ronald Hooper, beloved husband of Asta Hooper of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2005 at the age of 85 years. Ron spent his childhood in Winnipeg, MB and served overseas as a Navigator with the RCAF during WWII. After graduating from UBC with a Masters of Social Work, he pursued a career in social services in Victoria, Calgary and Winnipeg and retired as Winnipeg’s Director of Social Services in 1984. Ron and Asta enjoyed retirement in Victoria where he was an active member of the Unitarian Church. Ron relished the epicurean delights of life – fine music, literature, food, and the outdoors. He especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren. He will be missed by his wife Asta; sister Grace (Keith) Elliott; children, Ron Jr. (Sue Wolff), Nina (David) Reid, and Rita; grandchildren, Daniel, Michael (Brianna) and Meaghan Reid and Kris (Carrie) and Thomas Hooper; and great-grandsons Riley and Brandon Reid. Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, April 23, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
