Obituary of Patricia Anne Fischer
Patricia Anne Fischer (nee Torrey) passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family after a lengthy battle with cancer on Thursday, January 27, 2005 at the age of 53 years.
Patricia was born on March 7, 1951 in Dawson Creek, BC. Calgary became her city of residence after completing her studies at the University of British Columbia in 1974. She worked for Gulf Canada Resources as a geologist and land person for over twenty-one years. After several years as a consultant, she joined Shell Oil Canada as a Land Systems Coordinator in 2000. Patricia was an accomplished woman who was never boastful of her achievements, preferring a deep and quiet pride to radiate through her actions and enthusiasm. An active life developed a successful career, a loving family and a loyal following of friends as well as the opportunity to give back to the community. Patricia will be remembered for the many hours of work spent with the figure skating community, both with the Calalta Figure Skating Club and as a figure skating judge. She was active in the Embroidery Guild and loved needlework. Of her many joys in life, Patricia’s favourites included music, flowers and golden Labrador puppies. Her enthusiasm flowed through whatever Patricia accomplished, be it work related, family affairs, or volunteer activities. Patricia’s positive nature, tenacity and energy was legendary and she and Alfred were complementary soul mates.
Besides her best friend and loving husband Alfred, Patricia is survived by her daughter Janet of Manchester, England, her son Errol of Calgary, her brother, Charles and sister-in-law Pat Torrey of Nanaimo, BC; and her sister, Verna and brother-in-law Rick Lockwood of Medicine Hat, AB.
