Obituary of Violeta Caballes Crisostomo
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing peacefully of Violeta Crisostomo of Calgary on January 24, 2005 at age 75.
Violeta was born and educated in the Philippines. She gave up a career in Teaching to become a full-time Housewife and Mother. When she immigrated to Canada in 1985, she devoted her time to her family and to the Legion of Mary in Calgary, one of the Apostolic organizations of lay-people in the Catholic Church where she was the President of the Curia. Her unconditional love and spirit will continue to inspire the lives of those she has touched.
Violeta is survived by her loving husband of fifty-four years, Diomedes Crisostomo Sr.; eight children, Vella Bellaart (Tim), Myrna Rillera (Romy), of the Phillipines, Grace Mamayson (Cesar), Diomedes Crisostomo Jr. (Editha), Cecilia Cristobal (Noel), Ida Crisostomo, Noel Crisostomo, and Aimee Crisostomo; and ten grandchildren, who were the joy of her life until the end, Christopher, Stephen, Christina, Stephanie, Maryan, Redmond, Martin, Emily, Eli, and Hanna. The rock of her family, Violeta, will also be sadly missed by her eight brothers and sisters, Nenita Anderson (Richard), Castulo Tomas (Clara), Ligaya Nova (Rudy), Dalisay Narvas (Rudy – deceased), Bihasa Tomas (Fe), Paz Franco (Max), Jose Tomas (Zenaida), and Eli Tomas (Jocelyn); as well as numerous nephews and nieces who lovingly call her “their Auntie Baeng.” Violeta was predeceased by her mother Juliana Tomas on August 2, 1991.
