Obituary of Lawrence Olsen
Larry Olsen of Calgary passed away peacefully on Monday, January 10th, 2005 at the age of 92 years.
Larry was born on September 6, 1912 in Great Falls, MT, and moved to Calgary in 1927. Following his retirement as a Real Estate Planner and Appraiser in 1982, Larry enjoyed gardening, photography and showing his slide collection whenever an audience was available. He will be remembered for his passion for his family and the great pleasure he took in presiding over innumerable family events. Larry and Betty were long time residents of Calgary where Larry was instrumental in starting the Rosedale Community Association as well as organizing and chairing the Rosedale Block Watch program. He was also an award-winning member of the Calgary Horticultural Society. Larry is survived by his sons Dick (Edie), Norm (Val); daughters Catherine (Barry Magill) all of Calgary; Valerie (Bill Tinney) of Prince George, BC; grandchildren, Jim, Curt, Vicki (Steve), Nancy, Alison, Patrick, Michael, Robyn and Erin; great-granddaughters, Sara and Ronin; a sister Imogene (Sid Dyke) of Abbotsford, BC, and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was predeceased by Betty, his wife of fifty eight years in 2003, their daughter Janice, brother Norman and sister Eloise.
Respecting Larry’s wishes, no Funeral Service will be held. Flowers gratefully declined.
